Essay Contests
  • Ayn Rand Essay Contests - Students must read one of Rand's books and write an essay answering questions related to the work. 9th and 10th graders have a top prize of $2,000 and a deadline of March 18, 2004. 11th anfd 12th graders have a top prize of $10,000 and a deadline of April 15, 2004.
  • May Family National Art and Writing Contest - Students must either create a work of art or enter a writing selection concerning the Holocaust. Cash prize and museum credit is given to the top winners. Deadline is March 2004.
  • Shakespeare Fellowship Essay Contest - Students must write on one of several topics relating to Shakespeare.
  • The Holocaust Remembrance Project is a national essay contest for high school students that is designed to encourage and promote the study of the Holocaust. Top prize is $5,000.
  • The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest - Students must write a 1,000 word essay on the year's topic. Total prizes - $6,500.
  • National Peace Essay Contest - Students must write an essay on "Rebuilding Societies After Conflict". Top Prize - $10,000.
  • National Poetry Contest (Dimensions in Education) - Best Poetry Wins. Top Prize - $1,500.
  • Swackhamer Peace Essay Contest - Students must write an essay outlining constructive approaches to the problems of war and peace. Top Prize - $1,500.
  • SPAACSE Scholarship Program - List of three scholarships all totaling $1,000 each with varying requirements.
  • The Dupont Challenge - Students must write an essay of 700 to 1,000 words discussing a scientific or technological development, event, or theory that hjas captured thier intest and attention. Top Prize $1,500 in each field of science.
Speech Competitions
  • The Voice of Democracy is an annual national audio essay contest that is designed to foster patriotism by giving high school students in grades 9 through 12 the opportunity to voice their opinion about their personal obligations as an American and address their responsibility to our country. Top Prize - $25,000.
  • American Legion National Oratorical Contest - Students will write and deliver a brief oration based on a constitutional question. Top Prize - $18,000.
  • Optimist Oratorical Contest - Students will write and deviver a speech on an announced topic. Top Prize - $1,5000.
